AMELIE BOOK SYSTEM
During my study abroad in France, I research the work of composer Yann Tiersen in order to create a book system. This book system was made specifically based on his work in the movie Amelie, and the emotional impact his music brought into each specific scene of the movie.
Throughout the movie, the audience is introduced to many people who have been separated from society. They all are seen as outsiders, and tend to not connect with the others around them. This image depicts Amelies fragile nature as she goes through life trying to avoid doing things for herself. The background is the outline of her head, while written on top of her head is the word βthe broken man.β
The last scene depicts a series of events, where Amelies must let her suicidal fish go.
The first scene of Amelie depicts many different events happening all at once. In order to reflect on all the whimsical things happening in the script I chose to use an axial grid. This grid separates the typography as if all the type with the same weight should be read at the same time. Just like how all of these events are happening at once.
The second scene depicts Amelies heart. In this scene Amelie is shown to be mis-diagnosed with a heart condition leading her to be home schooled and separated from all people.
